Advantages: Stylish. Easy to use.

Disadvantages: No brush attatchment.

A year or so ago, I was looking for a handheld vacuum cleaner that I could use to clean the interior of our car, as it can get really grubby and it is a pain to drag the hoover outside just to clean the car. I was searching on Amazon when I cam across this device, the Kone, which didn't really look like a typical handheld vac at all, but I was drawn to it because it looked quite quirky and unusual.

The Kone, as you can see from the picture above, is a white, cone shaped device (hence the name!). The bottom half forms a base, in which you can slot the cleaner itself and charge it up. The top half is the cleaner, which, when removed from the base is a sort of "diamond" shape, for want of a better word, basically imagine two cones stuck end to end and you will get the idea!

To use the cleaner, you need to charge it for several hours. You can tell it is charging because a small round indicator light will appear on the cone. Once it has charged you can remove the cleaner from the base and start work. The very tip of the cone has a power button, which starts the suction. You cannot vary the suction strength, but it is quite powerful, and certainly powerful enough to tackle most jobs. The suction end of the cleaner is shaped in a way that enables it to get into nooks and crannies quite easily. The performance is excellent, and the cleaner is really easy to use.

After use, you simply twist the two halves of the cleaner to open it up and empty out the dust into a bin. The cleaner has a washable filter, but it doesn't need washing very often, as most times you can just tap the dust off into the bin. Then it is simply a case of slotting the cleaner back into the base charger to recharge it.

This is a really handy device and has lots of practical uses. I like to use it on my stair carpet, as I find it a lot easier than stretching the hoover hose. I also use it to pick up all the crubs and bits that fall down the back of the chairs and setee. It is great for cleaning the places that the hoover can't quite reach, such as edges of carpet, or for quickly cleaning up crumbs and mess fron the carpet. Because of its portability, it is great for cleaning the car too.

The look of the Kone is really unique and different. The advertise it as being a "focal point", but the reason I like it is the exact opposite. It blends in with any decor quite easily because of its simple design.I keep mine in the kitchen, but it would be at home in any room because it is unobtrusive. I also like to try and get people to work out what they think it is. Usually nobody can guess, and they certainly don't think it is a vacuum cleaner. It is very modern looking, but as it is a neutral colour, it goes well anywhere. My kitchen is very traditional in design, but it doesn't look out of place on the worktop.

My only slight gripe with the Kone is the fact you can't add a brush attatchment, as I think this would be really useful. I have a cat, and the Kone isn't great at picking up cat hair off the furniture, and would benefit from a brush attatchment to make this job easier. Apart from that, I can't really complain.
