Just in recent months my beloved Dyson vacuum decided to die on me. Me, I vac twice a day my whole living quarters as I'm rather fussy about the state of my floors and with two hamsters who have no issue with spreading their sawdust all over the place I have to be on the ball, which is probably why my Dyson gave up the ghost in the first place to be honest!
My lovely mum got on the case though knowing I was gutted about losing my Dyson and treated me to this one thankfully. She bought it for just short of £100 from a catalogue though I have since seen these for around £90.00 in places like Curry's.
It came in a box that included a 2 year guarantee you could send back to Vax via post or complete online and I was straight onto that and completed it on online. The vacuum itself is minimal assembly with the attachments needing to be shoved on it in the right places and a tube feeding through (I will come on to that later if I may!).
What You get:
Well this is an upright vacuum cleaner, nice to look at being dark grey and silver.
Using it is pretty straightforward. The handle moves via pressing your foot on a dark red plastic see through button. To the very front of the main hovering area you get a dark red plastic dial and you need to move this round to choose short carpet pile, high carpet pile or hard floor settings. This is a bit of a pain to be honest cos I have all three types of floorings in my home and if it isn't on the right setting then it really doesn't pick up well so I have to remember that!
It's rather heavy to lug about this one, as noisy as any other vacuum and providing I have it on the right setting it picks up easily, like I say though it is rather heavy and I would prefer one not so much so as I find using this rather hard work!
The tube I mentioned earlier is at the back and that hooks around the back of the machine and finishes at the side. Its quite long and this is to use with the attachments you get with it and you get 4 of those. You get a large vacuum head you simply push on and which stays secure that clips when not in use to the front of the machine. This is meant for people with pets so that you can vacuum over furniture, rugs and the likes. It has a powerful suction and the brush head inside it spins round really quickly and I find this really useful! You also have a little round brush which is robust and again I use this for over my sofas and things like that and then you get two long pieces of grey plastic that can be used together or alone to go under sofas and around corners and the likes. I like the selection of tools you get but the long ones although attach to my machine when not in use do get in the way and fall off and the likes!
The cable that comes with this with the plug attached is really long and winds around the back of the machine and has clips to keep it tidy when not in use which again is very handy allowing me to keep the whole thing....well tidy really.
Emptying the large space that the bits you pick up couldn't be simpler. You push a button, the whole thing comes away from the main of the machine and I hover it over a bin and press the little button on that and voila its done! The filter is to the top of it and it does need a gentle wash occasionally to keep it in good condition and again that's easy to do so.
This is a powerful machine and keeps my floors in really good condition but like I have said earlier this is a rather heavy machine sadly and so I although its well made and does its job very well indeed I would consider that prior to purchasing it!
