My partner decided a while ago that he wanted a steam cleaner to do all the floors in the house so we had a look around to see what was available. We decided on the Vax Hard Floor Master S2 Steam Cleaner as it seemed to do everything we were looking for and it was a decent price.

We purchased this steam cleaner for around £70.00 from our local Currys. I didn't want anything to bulky or heavy as storage is a bit of an issue in our house and I wanted to be able to use it with ease. This steam cleaner was perfect in that sense as it is quite tall and very thin so fitted nicely into the space in my cupboard without taking up too much room. The cleaner is mainly white with blue colouring on it. It looks quite a basic contraption which basically consists of the handle, the water tank and the base which is the cleaner itself.

The cleaner was relatively easy to put together and took my partner around 10-15 minutes to get it assembled and working. The cleaner has a 0.5 Litre tank which you fill with water, plug the machine in and off you go. One reason we chose this cleaner is that it is suitable for all flooring types and as we have a mixture of lino, laminate and carpets in our house, we thought it would be great to have a contraption that does all the flooring types in one go. This cleaner uses only steam to clean and you release the steam via the trigger handle near the top of the handle. As this is quite a tall, lightweight machine, it is perfect for less abled people as there is no bending required and the machine is easy to manoeuvre around the house over all flooring types with very little effort. Another positive point to this cleaner is that it has a decent length cord, over 5 metres, so I can do much of a level of the house without having to keep unplugging it and moving it into a different room and only have to unplug it to move it upstairs and do that level which saves time. I have found that the tank of water lasts around 10-15 minutes maximum before you need to re-fill it and it only takes a minute or so heat up.

You could really tell the difference in the floors after use. As it uses steam, rather than water to clean I was really impressed that my floors weren't soaking wet after use and the colour in the carpet really came up well, it almost looked brand new again and quite bright and vibrant. Obviously you can't see bacteria in the carpet, but you know it lurks and this cleaner not only cleans your floors, it also helps to eliminate bacteria too so when you have kids running and crawling around the floors, it provides reassurance that they are not picking up loads of unwanted germs.

Overall, I have been really impressed with this steam cleaner and would happily recommend it to all. My floors and carpets come up really well after a blast with this cleaner so they not only look good, but will be free from bacteria, dust mites etc which mean your home will be allergen free which is extremely reassuring if you have children in the house that suffer from allergies. The great thing about this steam cleaner though is that you get these results with very little effort. Gone are the days where you have to get on your hands and knees scrubbing your floors to get them clean and germ free. This cleaner takes no bending or scrubbing whatsoever. My carpets have never looked or felt cleaner and my laminate and lino floors are left really clean and shiny but without being wet and slippy like you could get with other cleaners.

This steam cleaner is a godsend for cleaning our floors and comes with a high recommendation from me.
