This vacuum cleaner sucks!
But let's face it, that's really the whole idea. We recently upgraded to this a few weeks ago now as we were getting fed up of our previous cleaners frankly feeble power. We saw a great for the Vax, and we really haven't regretted it. Before I used the Vax for the first time I did one last little clean up with our old Hoover, then used the Vax to see how much extra it picked up.
Loads, is the answer.
It's easy to see what you're picking up due to the clear container that collects the dust. It was nearly half full by the time I'd done the whole flat. The Vax is a piece of cake to empty - just disconnect the container, press a button and it flips open.
The lead length is very good, so no need to keep unplugging it as you move around. The suction is frankly incredible. As I said, it picked up a massive amount that my previous cleaner missed. It's almost too powerful in fact. It almost sucked up a small rug that I have...
It works well on carpets and hard floors. It takes a little getting used to - rather hard to maneuver at first, but once you get the hang of it really isn't a problem. Much easier to push it than pull it back towards, but you get used to it in time. Very happy with it in general, but with a couple of reservations.
It's not great on stairs - the hose is fairly short, and it's quite awkward to carry the Vax in one hand with the hose in the other. Also, if you're using the extension, it's a bit awkward to use the carpet tool with it. The upholstery attachment works fine with the extension though.
If you have pets, this would get their hair up no problem at all, even in peak moulting season.
Having a hairy cat, a messy child, an even messier husband and numerous dust/pollen related allergies means that it's important for me to have a vacuum that picks up as much mess as possible - and as quickly as possible. I work from home, and I just don't have the time to vacuum 3 or 4 times a day to stay on top of the mess.
I have numerous different surfaces in my house; lino, laminate, wood floors, short pile carpets and wool rugs, so I need a vacuum that can handle them all with the minimum of fuss. Fortunately, the U88 has proved to be just what I need. The turbo brush for the carpets and rugs is very effective, and it picks up dust and pet hair from the hard floors with very little effort from me.
The manoeuvrability of this vacuum is another massive point in its favour. I regularly suffer from sciatica, and having such a lightweight vacuum that's easy to turn with the swivelling function has been a massive help. It was strange to get used to at first after so long using conventional vacuums, but now I don't know how I managed without it.
The power cord is more than ample, and the attached tools all do what they need to. The only thing I would like is for the extending cord and attachment to reach a little further for high ceilings, but all in all I'm very impressed with the U88 and would certainly recommend it.
Due to my medical condition I found it difficult using other upright vacuum cleaners so I always opted for the small pull along style before, due to their light weight and easy maneuverability. Upon selecting a replacement for my broken vacuum I came across the the Air3 Pet upright from Vax, it promised light weight, deep cleaning and twisting maneuverability which reduced allergens due to the antibacterial filter, which sounded great to combat my husbands dust allergies. The added bonus of which was that it promised to be great and pet hair which would help combat our dogs continued malting. Upon unpacking, the vacuum was easy to put together with a stylish look and no complicated assembly. The first use was like a breath of fresh air, the promised maneuverability meant I could twist into the hardest reach places in the room that other uprights I've owned have never been able to get to, which was also a relief on my back as I wasn't straining and struggling with the vacuum to get into these hard to reach places. It picks up even the most ground in animal hair from our carpet which our small hoover never had the power to pull up which means my husbands allergies have even settled down somewhat. The only small downside was the hose wasn't quite long enough to reach the top stairs but that was helped by the vacuum being so light I could lift it as I went up with no strain on my back.
Overall I have to say it is the best vacuum I have ever owned and I now find myself using it a lot more simply because of the ease of use.
Amazing upright cleaner and love it!
This vacuum cleaner definitely exceeded my initial expectations. In particular is very light compared to most upright vacuum cleaners. I am 5' 2" and recently replaced an upright vacuum cleaner I had as I found it too heavy to lift, but I have no problems carrying this one up and down the stairs.
It may be compact but it is very efficient, not only on carpets but tiles and laminate flooring to. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and found it great at removing their hair from various surfaces. The two additional cleaning tools are very handy and I particularly like that the hose can be unattached and used on its own to clean areas that are not so easy to access.
I cannot recommend this vacuum cleaner enough. It is so simple to use that instructions are not really required, but the quick start guide tells you everything you need to know if you do have any problems.
I received this as a trial product from Vax. The opinions are mine and based on my genuine experience of using the product.
I have found this vacuum really powerful and a really good option. I have 3 dogs all with very different coats; a German Shepherd with course long hair and a light fluffy undercoat that sheds heavily all year round, a Lurcher who sheds fluffy hair through the summer months and a Chihuahua who sheds light course hair year round. I also live in a 3 storey house so have found it difficult to find a vacuum that can cope with the stairs and the dog hair effectively. I have light coloured carpets throughout, with the exception of the kitchen which is tiled (porcelain tiles).
Firstly, this vacuum was very easy to assemble; it took me less than 5 minutes from opening the box to plugging it in, which was great. The brush bar is very effective on the carpets and a couple of times back and forth, the carpet was good as new (I even got down on my knees and brushed my hand over to double check but there was no hair there!). Although the barrel looks small it compacts what it picks up really well so I can do a full floor without having to empty it. You don't use the brush bar for hard floor and I have found it works equally well this way on my tiles. It is really light weight and very easy to manoeuvre up and down stairs - which is a huge bonus for me! One tip - don't carry it by the handle on the filter as it did come apart on the stairs when I did this - carry it by the main handle. It is very quiet for such a powerful vacuum, another big plus point! I was really impressed with the length of the power cable as it will stretch around one floor and a flight of stairs with ease and means I don't have to keep unplugging and moving it around.
The upholstery tool is very good on sofas and chairs and I really like the 2 in 1 tool which is easy and convenient and means I don't have to keep switching the end when I'm cleaning. I am not as impressed with the multi-purpose tool - I have used a similar tool with another vacuum to clean my dog beds and stairs - but with this one I haven't found it picks up as well and if you press flat with it the brushes get caught up and stop. The hose for the tools is a good length and I can easily reach up half a flight of stairs before having to move the vacuum.
The filters are easy to clean as per the instructions and remain effective with every use.
The one downside to this vacuum for me is emptying it. You do have to pull the contents out by hand - they won't just drop out, which isn't ideal. Also I have found dog hair getting caught in the air ways around the main brush bar, which again I've had to remove by hand.
I would like to see a full set of instructions in the box rather than having to go to the website for them. Having said that, the quick guide which is included, gives you everything you need to get going.
All in all this easily competes with other market leading pet vacuums and for me, the plus points definitely outweigh the downsides as it gets all the dog hair up and some!
This vacuum really is quite brilliant! My giant breed long haired dog is moulting at the moment and my current vacuum just wasn't keeping up. I was having to go over and over and over the same spots to get the hair up, and it was really heavy. I have really bad back problems that stops me working and pushing the big heavy vacuum around was really painful. This vacuum is so light on first look you think hmmm is this up for the job, but it really is!!!
I was really excited to get using it, I decided to do my living room first to give it a good test run after I had just brushed my dog in there. It brought it up spotless! I had to go over a few spots twice but nothing like my old vacuum. It did such a good job and was so easy to use, especially with the dual axis it makes it so easy to go around furniture and due to it being quite a small vacuum it fitted under most of my furniture easily saving me so much time and effort.
It was so good and so easy to use I decided I could do the whole house! Some of the carpets that I thought probably needed replacing were brought up lovely, and doing the stairs was really easy. The brushes provided were brilliant for the job. And it being so light, getting it up and down the stairs was brilliant. The cord is also a really decent length so I didn't need to unplug it several times just to move from room to room.
When I got to my bedroom carpet, which I am actually quite embarrassed about because my dogs hair sticks to it like Velcro and it's really low pile and almost impossible to get the hair out. At this point I thought hmmm it's a really good little vacuum but is it this good? I couldn't believe how much hair it brought up! In such a short space of time my bedroom carpet looked as good as before we got a dog!
I had to empty the vacuum twice, which is much easier than other Vax where you have to twist the lid off, this one has a flap on the bottom, I still found I needed to pull the hair from around the filter, but it was much easier than my old Vax and a lot less messy! But after that first vacuum which got a lot of stuff up I didn't even know was in my carpets! I have hardly had to empty it in the few weeks I've had it. It looks like it won't hold very much, but it does get quite compact inside, and it is easy to empty so it's really not a problem to clean out. unlike my last vacuum which I really hated to empty and used to put it off for as long as possible.
Due to this being a "pet" vacuum I should really say my dog wasn't a big fan of my last Vax, this one is much quieter and he doesn't seem to mind it at all. In fact he is asleep almost on it right now as I type this! All in all I would highly recommend this product (which I don't do very often). I have been trying to think of any negatives for it and apart from emptying it a bit more often than my last one I am struggling to think of any.
The Air3 Pet is a great little vacuum cleaner. Not too large or heavy to lug around (even upstairs) which means I'm more likely to it get out for a quick nip round in-between doing 'proper' housework. It is easy to store and compact enough to get into smaller gaps than its 'big brothers' and it goes low to the floor when getting under beds, chairs etc. The vacuuming manoeuvre 'action' takes a bit of getting used to but is better and easier once you get the hang of it. Works well on both hard floors (tiles / laminate) and carpets, you can also get close to the edges with the little rubber bumpers preventing damage & scuffs. The power lead is a good length so possible to do a whole room without needing to change sockets. Fairly easy to 'convert' to hose use although the clip design could possibly be more positive and robust. The dust container, though understandably not huge, is so easy to empty its not really a problem. Powerful enough to easily suck up my (currently moulting) 3 dogs' fur. I used it on a rug they are particularly fond of laying on and it looked great after - you could even see 'suck up' lines where the pile was left standing up. Was very easy to get going out of the box but I think more instructions need to be included - not everyone can or wants to get on the net and I would prefer not to have to get a screwdriver just to release the brushbar ! Power cord storage is a pain (if it had a push button rewind would be almost perfect!) but is easier to wind around & stays on the holding hooks better than my previous Vax model. Also, the little hook on the handle which is meant to hold the lead up & out of the way is too small so it keeps falling off and has to be held in your hand. However, these things are just 'niggles' and overall this may well be the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned !
Particularly useful for pet hair and dust- picked up so much more than my old cleaner. very lightweight , but very study and powerful. Easy to manoeuvre, especially around furniture and corners. extra long flex means you can move easily from room to room, and attaching the included tools couldn't be easier - just unclip the hose and away you go ! excellent value for money
The Air3 Pet arrives almost completely assembled - just attach the hose, push in the handle and you're ready to go. The flex is very long - really useful when you're cleaning several rooms - no need to plug in multiple times.
It took me a short while to get used to the manoeuvrability (no just moving back and forth with this) of the cleaner, but once I did, it's easy to use. The flat brush head allows you to get underneath quite low items of furniture. It is very quiet in use, and there is no massive rush of air from the back, as there is from some cleaners.
The Turbo tool is very good on upholstery but I found that you need to use a one-way motion (i.e don't move it back and forward ) or the brushes slow down if they are continually in contact with the surface being cleaned. One small point about this tool is that I haven't yet found anywhere on the cleaner to store it...
The suction is very strong, but this seems to lead to the dust container filling up quickly - or maybe it's because I've got two big hairy dogs!
But, all in all, I'm really pleased with the cleaner.
Used the hoover for nearly a week now.Very easy to move and is very compact so easy to store.moves round my carpet very quickly and the pick up is great a lot better than my previous hoover.it is easy to empty as well which is good for not getting dirt everywhere laterlike the size and ease of movement - so far found nothing bad to comment on
I received this product to test. It is absolutely wonderful. I have a Dyson, which I boasted to everyone that it is the best vacuum cleaner ever, but after using this Air3, I can say Vax Air3 beats Dyson hands down. Apart from the great suction when cleaning the house, there is a brush that can be switched on while cleaning the carpet. Imagine vacuuming and brushing at the same time. It is amazing. I have used it several times and the results is always the same.
The only down-side to it is that it is not that easy to use on the stairs. Manoeuvring around on the stairs is not as easy as vacuuming the nornal floors, but that does not take away the suction power of the vacuum cleaner.
Overall, this is a very good product and I am very impressed by the performance. Good job on this Vax!
