Vax VZL-6016 Mach 6
Disadvantages: Heavy, Needs emptied often and expensive
Having recently broken my previous vacuum (Dyson), i've had to resort to borrowing my mother in laws Vax Mach 6.
I was surprised with just how heavy the vacuum is, and pity anyone who has stairs to hoover, thankfully i live on in a flat, although i am on the first floor, my partner had to do the heavy lifting ... and carrying the hoover five streets before he reached home with it.
Putting aside my surprise at the weight of the vacuum, i immediately set to work on my sitting room floor carpet which was covered in pet hair, dust and plaster dust after recent work (the plaster repair is what killed my dyson, the wall fell on it.), i was cautious at first, i swept as much of the carpet as i could, making sure any bits of plaster bigging than a 5p piece were picked up by the dustpan and brush and not the vacuum.
Hoovering the sitting room was straight forward and i have to admit, i have never seen my carpet look so good, not even when i bought it new 4 years ago, i was very impressed.
However, i had the passage to hoover next and turning the vacuum around, i set off down the passage, except i didn't get more than 2cm because of how heavy and difficult it was to push the vacuum across the passage carpet.
The carpet in the passage is different to the one in the sitting room and much newer, it is thicker and a pain to hoover on any day as its a magnet for collecting the cats fur and general dust.
I tried turning off the brush on the vacuum but still i struggled with hoovering the passage, so i gave it up as a lost cause and demanded my partner do the job himself, now, he is a nice strong man, and even he struggled but he managed to get the passage done.
The thingy (someone please tell me what its actual name is!) that holds the dust and dirt and what not, needed emptied twice when doing the sitting room, but do take into account that the sitting room carpet was in desperate need of a good vacuum, i think on a daily basis of hoovering you'd probably only need to empty once per room (my sitting room is 16ft x13ft to give you an idea of the size)
The overall result of the passage was not as impressive as the sitting room and as i think about the weight of vacuum makes it far to difficult for me to invest £180 in this vacuum, i would not recommend this product to anyone who is not very, very, very, very strong.
On the brightside, the attachments that come with the vacuum are pretty cool for doing the furniture and curtains but its not worth £180+.
Summary: Its not worth the money or the hassle, give me back my Dyson any day.
