VAX Appliances V-091 ... Once we got it home the first thing I did was test it on a chair in the living room (popular sleeping area for the cat). The suction power of the cleaner was very impressive and the chair was fur free within a couple of minutes. The cleaner has many different parts, one for wooden floors, carpets and another handy piece for skirting boards and along wall edges. You can adjust the suction power with a little wheel and I recommend having this up full if you are sucking up pet fur. The cleaner isn t heavy and can be easily lifted round the house and up the stairs. This is our first Vax product and when the time comes to replace it I would definitely have another.... VAX Appliances V-020 ... to this I had a bissell upright proffessional carpet/floor cleaning system. That system cost 4x the amount of this vax carpet cleaner. The winner...? the vax hands down. As it s not an upright there is much less to go wrong with this, it s easier to clean the bits and the main unit. The cleaning quality is very good although it doesn t dry the carpet as well as I would like - but then again going back to the price I can see why. The cord wraps around the unit for storage and the parts fit together firmly and only fit one way so mistakes are not possible. Vax Mach 4 VZL-6014 ... water at the ready! The suction is good and the collecting area is small which means that I find myself emptying the bag and cleaning the filter frequently. One small thing, the handle does not easily click back upright; you have to ensure it is in place before you let go. Finally, although I bought it from John Lewis, it is very clear on the accompanying paperwork that you must use the Vax helpline for any problems - and you must register on-line or by post for the extended warranty, which is free. I would buy this machine again for it s excellent suction on both hard and soft floors at a very good price. If I had a lot of stairs I might think twice, it is hea...
