Vax 6131 ... bought this machine to do 1 job - wash carpets. I own a £995 Kirby vacuum cleaner so dont ever intend to use the Vax as a vacuum cleaner. I bought it because although the Kirby has a shampoo facility all it does is massage foam into the carpet pile and brighten the colours up a bit. The Vax is more efficient at shampooing as it flushes clean water into the carpet and then draws it back out again. This machine cost me £130 from Comet and I also took out the extended warranty for around £30. Its pretty easy to set up for shampoo mode and the vacuum mode would be even easier I would imagine. Vax V- 062 Ultrixx Cobalt ... V062 Ultrixx Cobalt is a variable power 1800W bagless cylinder vacuum with a HEPA filter. It comes with a floor combi head for carpets & hard floors as well as Vax TurboTool and crevice & brush tools. As far as the spec goes it was pretty much what I was looking for after 2 years of using crappy landlord-provided machines before. A cylinder because I don t have acres of empty floor space to vacuum but I have to go round a lot of stuff like from furniture to baby items to toys to computer peripherals.
