Advantages: great for when your vacuum breaks down

Disadvantages: not so great when this one breaks too!

Woolworth Worth IT! Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
History
I purchased this item in January 08 for £25 (its now £30) at my Local Woolies after my beloved Dyson finally gave up on me. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a new vacuum cleaner and after a bit of research this was the cheapest I found. I bought it home and eagerly ripped open the box, assembly was very simple, you just plop the handle in the top and you will hear a satisfying clip. I was eager to get going as it had been 5 days since my Dyson packed up and my rooms were in desperate need of a hoover!

Performance
I have to say the I was not entirely impressed, maybe this was because I'm used to having the power of a Dyson behind my push but this one just didn't have the oomph behind it. However I persevered, it picked up the dirt relatively well but after one room I was having to empty it because it seems to loose its sucking power, it was by no means as satisfying as my last vacuum. As you push it moves easily and is fairly lightweight, I wouldn't say it glides but its in no way hard to operate. I was shocked when I realised it had no hose but to do corners, edges and around furniture, I had to use my mini car vac for that. The cord on the vacuum is of sufficient length, I moved around my rooms with ease only really struggling with the stairs .The vacuum I slim but takes up a fair bit of room as its handle arches out meaning I have to squeeze it into my cupboard. It made less noise than my Dyson did as i wizzed it around which at the time made me question weather it was working or not.
Durability
The vacuum lasted One month then disaster struck! The handle stopped clicking into place making the vacuum impossible to wield. I returned it to the store the next day where the colleague profusely apologised and exchanged it for me. Once again I took it home and gave it the run of the house. This one lasted a little longer at one and a half months before the same thing happened. So once again I returned it to the store, I was assured by the manager that they have very few returns of this product and asked me to try again (third time lucky perhaps? No.) After three months its just stopped working, I don't believe I overused it, I vacuum my house everyday alternating between upstairs and downstairs. I returned it to the store and was granted with a refund, the next day I purchased a Dyson (the same model I had before) and I have been happy ever since!

Summary
In my estimation it is an ok vacuum cleaner while it lasts, the 1400W is not powerful enough and it looses power after one room. If Woolies could stop it from breaking so much IF I didn't have my Dyson I would happily put up with this. I have to say that I am rather disappointed with the products Quality as I have purchased previous 'Woolworth's' and 'worth it' products and have found them to be of satisfactory quality. In its current keep breaking state I can't recommend this product to anyone which is a shame as it would be ideal for my elderly aunt or a holiday home.

Summary: if it didnt break so much it would be great.

VG review.

This model is the more basic version to Tesco's Value Vac and the Proaction/Argos Value I own but it has the hose and tools behind it. Shame it didn't work out - if only they had stuck to the proper handle and the more powerful motor like the ones on the Tesco and Argos versions!
