This film is wonderfully directed. Antwone fisher's life was awful, but the way it has been made into a movie is tremendous. Antwone suffered many forms of abuse. Yet he survived and proved that anyone can turn a bad thing around and become a strong character with a will to move on and live a normal life. For Denzil's first time at directing, he has done a fantastic job. And I hope to see more films from him in the near ...

I caught this movie at a special preview on Welsh cinema day (don't ask me why they showed this film?) about 2 months ago. It seems to have taken an eternity to be released over here. This is Denzel Washington's directorial debut, and is a strong first effort. The story centres around a young naval recruit who has serious anger management problems. Encouraged by his psychologist (Washington), he goes on a journey to find the root of his problems and delve into his traumatic childhood. To say anymore would give away most of the story so I'll leave it at that. The film is based on Fisher's memoirs so gains extra power from the fact ...
