Austin Powers - International Man Of Mystery (DVD) ... released 19 July, 2004 at Pathe Distribution / Features of the DVD: PAL, Widescreen / If you don't think Austin Powers is one of the funniest movies of the 1990s, maybe you should be packed into a cryogenic time chamber and sent back to the decade whence you came. Perhaps it was the 1960s--the shagadelic decade when London hipster Austin Powers scored with gorgeous chicks as a fashion photographer by day, crime-fighting international man of mystery by night. Yeah, baby, yeah! But when Powers' arch nemesis, Dr Evil, puts himself into a deep-freeze and travels via time machine to the late 1990s, Powers must follow him and foil Evil's nefarious scheme of global domination. Mike Myers plays dual roles as Powers and Dr Evil, with Elizabeth Hurley as his present-day sidekick and karate-kicking paramour. A hilarious spoof of 60s spy movies, this colourful comedy actually gets funnier with successive viewings, making it a perfect home video for gloomy days and randy nights.  ... will depend on two things: firstly: do you get the humour?; secondly: have you watched lots of Bond films? The humour is, for the most part, positively childish and juvenile. It’s the sort of thing that teenage boys find hilarious – full of poo, bum and other gags relating to bodily functions. It is unashamedly immature. In fact, at times, it makes the Carry On films look like they were directed by Bergman! So, your enjoyment of the film will very much rest on how much you are willing to let your mind roll into the gu...more

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery What’s it about? --------------------- Frozen since the 60s, British super spy Austin Powers is unfrozen in the 90s to do battle once more with his nemesis Dr Evil. Who’s in it? --------------- This is, in many ways, Mike Myers’ film. As well as writing it, he plays both Austin Powers and Dr Evil. Although recognisably him in both disguises, he clearly is having a lot of fun and makes both parts sufficiently different to make them enjoyable. Dr Evil is all bumbling incompetence, whilst Austin Powers is a confident, strutting ...

This film was fantastic and so funny I hardly know where to start. Here goes… First impressions can be deceptive, when I saw the opening sequence of Austin Powers dancing in the street, I thought "what on earth is this all about?" and I was seriously worried as to whether the film would be any good or not, I even thought "if it's really bad I can always leave!" However, having seen the film three times now, I can vouch that it is excellent! After the opening sequence the film soon went into a brilliantly funny, never ending cascade of jokes. I laughed the whole way through the film, it was one joke after another and they all ...

I must confess to being a bit of an Austin Powers fan and do own all three of the movies on DvD. It is rare these days for a film that receives so much acclaim prior to release to actually live up to the hype surrounding it but I think Austin Powers actually does. Being a spoof of ever popular James Bond - the similarities to characters is uncanny and may turn some people off the film but the film is designed to be a comedy and some of the jokes are very near the mark - but necessary to the film. ~The Plot~ In the 1960’s the most successful British spy of all time Austin Powers a groovy secret agent, who dons velvet threads, horn-rimmed glasses and ...
