Often forgotten about, possibly due to it's impossibley long title, The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms was a 1954 picture that bridged a gap between the movies of the two most famous giant monsters of all. Released after King Kong, but using the same stop-motion animation techniques, but before the following year's Gojira, which also used a giant reptile awoken from hibernation via atomic bomb, The Beast, as I'm going to refer to it by from hereon in, often gets passed up when people talk about monster movies, which is a shame, because, as with most of the work of Ray Harryhausen, it's a very entertaining slice of vintage fantasy fun.
