Fred (The Hammer) Williamson isn't much of an actor but he looks great in 70's era suits and poses well in this fast moving, still exciting and well above average entry into the Blaxploitation genre of films. 1973'S Black Caesar is one of the best of its genre. The film is modeled very closely on the old Warner Brothers Gangster films like the original Scarface, Public Enemy and Little Caesar. It's an inventively low-budget film that's far from perfect but its well paced and remains entertaining both as a Nostalgic -they-don't-make-them- like- this- anymore and an action/gangster flick. Black Caesar will definitely keep your interest, especially fans of gangster films. The strong violence (shooting, beating, and abuse of women) may be a little strong for some. The important part of the film is its message. The downfall is that it takes its brutal time getting to it. The films few but powerful moments make it count. Williamson is good as the crook who kills his way to the top. Little did he know he was going down the whole time.I don't Live in the Past but that period was something that i don't think i will see or feel again.it was Magic.this film represented a golden era.also a strong solid cast.unlike today you didn't have to spend a 100 ...
