The Black Hole (DVD)

1979 the year of this film, a little over 20 years but how the special effects have changed in that time. When I look back and think how awe inspiring the special effects of such films were at the time I wonder how we will look on the special effects that are in the present day films (matrix etc). All in all this film is a very light hearted film, it would rate a B type movie in my opinion. Baddy, goodies, goodies win. The effects are splattered throughout this film, but they in no way make up for what appears to me now to be a low budget and dated movie. A black hole sits in the middle of space, a seemingly dead ship hangs moitionless too near it to be true. The crew of a small exploration craft identify this ship as one that has been lost for many years. When they get on board they find that the crew has gone and only one person remains. An old scientist that has created an army of robots to run the ship for him while he studies the might of the black hole.
