The topic tackled in Chandni Bar is very brave and quite different to the regular glitz and glamour of most Bollywood films and was a major hit with cinema-goers when released in 2001. This film directed by Madhur Bhandarkar is definitely targeted at an adult audience and is rated 15. The excellent screenplay is by Mohan Azaad and the lead character Mumtaz is played by Tabu (Vijaypath, Silsillay, Hawa, Chachi 420, Tarkieb).
