The Curse of the Werewolf (DVD)

Based on the novel THE WEREWOLF OF PARIS by Guy Endore, this movie has Oliver Reed hamming it up as Leon, a man who works in a vineyard, but who turns into a savage werewolf whenever there’s a full moon. However, much detail of the novel was removed, even to the extent of changing the location from France to Spain. The film had many troubles with the British Board of Film Censors (as it was known then) and received a lot of bad criticism – much of this criticism was surrounding the horrific scenes in the film in addition to the concepts involved – including the birth of Leon, a werewolf, on Christmas Day.
