Real boy's own stuff from the same World War Two stable that John Sturges had already plundered for his late sixties hit 'Where Eagles Dare'. This is from a Jack Higgins novel rather than Alistair Maclean, but the recipe is exactly the same - undercover heroics, decent action, and Nazis. This is odd, in that most of the central characters are in fact Nazis (Michael Caine's 'hero' for example), involved in a plot to take over a small English village as part of an entirely improbable plot to assassinate Churchill. It is, in a rather daft way, highly entertaining, with solid performances from Caine, Robert Duvall, and Donald Sutherland as an ...
