I saw this film this morning and it has haunted me all day. It is about the tragic Jacqueline Du Pre and her relationships with her sister Hilary and others. Taking the viewer from the two girls' childhood through to Jaqueline's death at the mere age of 42 the film is emotional, very dramatic and the acting of the main characters is superb. The film is about sibling rivalry at it's most intense and charts Jaqueline's rise to fame and her tragic illness which cuts her dazzling career short and her sister Hilary's life which was lived somewhat in Jaqueline's shadow. This film has to be one of the most moving films that I have ever seen. I saw it at the cinema when it came out, and recently got it from HMV for a fiver... The film is a biography of one of the most famous cellists in the world, Jacqueline Du Pré, who died fairly recently of a tragic illness. Her sister, Hilary who was a flautist is also featured heavily, and the story is set from both of their points of views. The story is one of jealously, greed, love, hate and tragedy.
