Having given up her own abmitions to be with her husband, Judith is devastated when he dumps her. Meanwhile, Pat is the lift operator in her swanky apartment block, a man broken by his daughter's tragic deathand troubled by mountainous gambling debts. One day, the mismatched pair strike up a friendship. Can they help each other get back on their feet again ? This is a superbly acted comedy drama, with a richly emotive script. One of the best things about this movie is that it refuses the resort to a cliched, pat ending, instead letting the audience experience life's ups and downs along with the well drawn characters. ...
