INTRODUCTION Out of all the works in the anime canon there is probably no other show that has raised so much speculation, questions, interpretations and controversy as Shin Seiki Evangelion (or Neon Genesis Evangelion as it has been translated). Love it or hate it, the universally accepted opinion is that it is one of the best anime series ever created, if not THE best. Neon Genesis Evangelion has been a big hit in the anime world and deservedly so. The 26 episode TV series made by Gainax may look like any other big robot show, but there's so much more depth to it. Watching it through to the highly debated end episodes will reveal this as the show transforms itself through out. At first things are relatively upbeat and not that distinct from other mecha shows, however things soon descend to a far darker level.
