Advantages: Looks great / fantastic games / HD
Disadvantages: Loud fan noise
I previously owned an Xbox Premium from launch, which wasn't HDMI, nor was it black, and only had a 20gb HDD.
After getting the dreaded 'Ring of Death' in Nov2007, I deicded enough was enough and purchased an Elite as it's replacement.
Now, i purchased the Elite in Feb2008 on it's own for £299 from Asda (I called several stores trying to locate one, and after 10+ calls managed to track one down to a local Asda store)
First impressions, it looks fantastic. It looks soooo much better in black than the white, and to top it off, it matches my other AV equipment.
It comes with a 120GB HDD which is more than enough memory for any gamer, regardless just how many demos you plan on downloading from the online market place.
It came with a HDMI cable, which connected straight upto my HD Ready TV with no issues, and looks great.
Did I notice a difference over Component and HDMI? Yes I did! The colours looks cleaner, and the picture looks sharper.
I was lucky enough to pick up a Falcon Elite (code name for the newer version of the elite, with a bette processor and uses less power, 175watts rather than the normal 200+)
Overall, I am delighted with the console, and (touches wood) haven't had any ring of death or other issues with it yet.
My only niggle with this unit is the loud fan, but tucked away at the back of the AV unit, it's not noticeable.
Summary: A* Gaming console

- 21/10/08 Good review. With my older 360, I found myself filling the drive up far too quickly. Also, it looks GREAT in black! |
