Advantages: Great games and online features

Disadvantages: Not very reliable

As a huge games fan and an owner of all 3 of the big consoles on the market, those being the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii, I feel I am a good position to be able to compare the 360 in the market place.

Firstly, the design of the console is terrific and the control pad is equally well thought out. The customisability of the face of the console is a neat touch, but not one I have tried. The system is easy enough to get out of the box and be playing on within 5 minutes. I find it to be powerful and the games available are as good as any on the PS3. But...

Why, oh why does this console not come with built in wireless capabilities. I really hated having to buy a separate adapter to avoid having to lay ethernet cable down across our entire house. Poor planning from Microsoft. Why does it keep crashing and having to be sent away to repair. This apparently is the 3rd different 360 console I have had and I hope this one will fare better. Apparently, this is quite a common occurance and definitely gives the Sony PS3 the advantage on the reliability score.

The one major plus for the 360 over its rivals is the Xbox Live service. This quite simply has no rival at the moment. The updates are great, the game achievements system is fantastic and some games that lag on the PS3 online, simply do not on the Xbox. On that score, well done Microsoft.

For all of its faults, the 360 is still not something I would want to be without and represents good value for money.

Summary: I would still get one, but am more likely to play on the PS3 and Wii
