Advantages: Low price games, massive selection of titles, great online play
Disadvantages: subscription fee for the live service
I am not going to list the specifications of the machine here, there's no point because for the most part it means nothing and people do it just to fill up their review.
The big question for someone buying a console is PS3 or Xbox 360. Well I decided xbox 360 so in this review I will try my best to explain why it was the right choice for me.
What you get:
You get your xbox 360, wireless control pad, HDMI cable (or scart if you're still SD), power brick and hard drive (20 gig at the time I bought), network cable and 1 months live subscription.
So the first PS3 fans boys will shot here is yes but there's no wireless adaptor in it. To be fair if you're gaming you want a wired connection for reliability sakes and the over £100 saving compared to a PS3 is significant.
So in that box is everything you need to get playing.
This is where the xbox wins it for me, due to the amount of time it has been out longer than the PS3 there is a much bigger choice of games to play, and a lot more used or discounted games.
Also the xbox 360 control pad has the left analogue stick in the right place to make it the primary method for controlling, where as the PS3 makes this awkward due to the D pad still being where it's always been.
Then the winner of the battle is xbox live, sony provide a free online play service where as with microsoft you pay about £35 a year for it, but the fact the service is paid for means it is top notch. PS3 users often complain of poor connections while playing and that demos get uploaded sometimes weeks after they do for the 360.
It's cheaper, has more games, has cheaper games and has a better online service. That's why I picked the xbox 360.
Summary: due it's better bang for the buck xbox 360 wins over PS3 for me
