Microsoft Xbox 360
Advantages: Some brilliant exclusive games. Great multiplayer experience. Controller is easy to hold and use.
Disadvantages: Mine didn't last long. (RROD) Has overheating issues. Multiplayer costs extra and isn't that cheap.
I had my Xbox 360 for just less than two months and what a two months they were. I was up until the early hours every night playing on some great exclusive games that the system had on one of the best multiplayer platforms I've ever played on. Sure, you had to pay about £40 a year for it, but it was far superior than the Playstations PSN free network.
The hardware itself is very sleek. The weight is just about right and I could lift it up easily without any problems. It comes with a microphone headset, which I thought was a nice touch. The controller takes batteries which are included in the package.
Just under two months of having it, I was unfortunate to be issued with three red lights around the switch on / standby button. After doing some research, I found out it was RROD or red ring of death. It is some kind of technical problem with the motherboard which basically made my once brilliant gaming console, a paperweight!!
Microsoft said they would address the problem by sending it to them and they would issue me with another one, although they said it would be a factory second. I couldn't be hassled so bought a PS3 instead and have so far had no problems with it.
Beware: Although Microsoft say they have recified the problem of RROD with the newer 360's, its something to take into consideration when buying one.
Summary: Great games machine it might be, but there is always that risk of it breaking down.
