Advantages: Multiple software uses, well designed.

Disadvantages: Very popular, sometimes sold out

Several months ago I purchased a Nintendo DS Lite. The main purpose of the purchase was for use as a Japanese electronic dictionary and Kanji drills. A lot of software is available in Japan for this.

The design of the Nintendo DS incorporating a touch pen makes it perfect for writing Kanji on the screen.

I haven't played many games but in terms of the hardware itself, the DS is impressive. Upon first sight the DS has an attractive design with a range of buttons kept to a minimum to keep it simple and dual screen.

The design of the DS light goes back to Nintendo's earlier roots in the early 1980's when they produced basic electronic games & watches. Such Nintendo products looked simple yet appealing. The DS reflects the original Nintendo era.

The battery lives up to expectations, lasting approx 5 hours between each recharge.

Overall the Nintendo DS has been designed with puzzle and RPG style games in mind and the added benefit that one can use it as a dictionary. The Nintendo DS is highly recommended.

Summary: highly recommended
