Yay I finally got what I had been waiting for this christmas - A nintendo Ds Lite. The Nintendo DS is a handheld console. This console was released by Nintendo in 2005.

**Appearance**
The Nintendo Ds Lite is very small. It is a newer, updated version of the nintendo ds. On opening the console you can see two LCD screens inside it, the one of which being a touch screen. This is the screen you use to play games with the stylus or use your finger to control. The console also has a built-in microphone and supports wi-fi. This might just be me but when playing Brain Training games the microphone appears not to work properly. However, I have had no problems with the microphone when playing Nintendogs. I'm not sure why this may be happening. The Ds lite can now be bought in a variety of colours including : Black, White, Pink, Red & Blue.

When using this console I tend to mainly use the stylus that is provided when you buy the console. You receive two stylus both the colour of the console ( in my case the black ones). The stylus fits very tidily into the right hand side of the console. This makes the console even more compact. On the bottom half of the console there are also controls, which you can use if you decide not to use the console. Games such as sonic may require you to use these. The bottoms on the right of the console are displayed in a triangular shape. With a "X", "A", "B" & "Y" button.

On the right hand side of the console there is the power on/off switch.

**USE**
For me the main use of this console is to play the Nintendo Ds games on it. There are a wide variety of games that can be bought for this console. They averagely range about £20-£30 per game although, this can vary greatly on where you buy them from. www.play.com tends to be cheaper then most shops and it is also free postage & packaging.

I have roughly about ten games and I love to spend time playing them. One thing that is especially good about the console is that it is so small that you can take it with you. For example, in the mornings I love to take my Ds with me so that my bus journeys are not so boring. I usually play the Brain training games which gets me thinking. The cooking mama is also a good game! You have to blow into the microphone to ensure that the food does not burn.

Overall this is definately a brilliant console. I would recommend it for all ages. This I feel was firstly aimed at children however, there have been many celebrities recently been advertising this console. My 60 year old great uncle also received one for xmas and loves it! There is a wide range of games for this console which makes it appealing for all ages. It's definately handy when taking children on long journeys or going on long journeys ourselves. The battery life of this console is also brilliant, there is nothing more annoying then when you start to play a game and then have to wait for it to be re-charged. I find that the battery life of the nintendo ds lite to be brilliant. It only needs to be charged for an hour or two and it is capable of lasting 10+ hours. The Ds Lites can be bought for around £99 although if you look around it could probably be found a little cheaper.

** It definately beats the boredom!
