Advantages: Compact, good graphics, huge variety of games
Disadvantages: Could be considered too expensive, but well worth the money
I'm not really a games person. I've never had my own games console like a playstation, xbox or gamecube, though I have played a few games on the computer. However, when the ds came out it did sound really, REALLY good. My friend got one for her birthday, and I immediately got hooked on playing it.
Unlike most games consoles I've played on, the ds was really simple to use and I had no problems figuring out controls for any of the games I played. After convinancing my parents enough that I really did want one and it wasn't a waste of money, I was given one for Christmas last year. Although quite expensive, I really do think it was worth the money!
Now I'm quite a girly girl; your typical teen into fashion, animals, makeup, music etc. A lot of games consoles, I don't think cater for this area that well. There seem to be mainly beat em up and shoot them down games, which I'm really not in the slightest bit interested in. However, for the Nintendo DS there are SO many games for almost every single age and both boys and girls. I've had horse games, zoo and vet ones, Nintendogs, games from my favourite films such as the Golden Compass and my favourite of all, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which really stretched my mind, but which I loved!
The graphics are generally pretty good, though cheaper games aren't so amazing! On some of the games I've bought, there have been small video clips, and the graphics on these have always been excellent. The touch screen has always worked well, and it makes you feel a little more involved with games! The microphone is fab too, and some games ask you to blow bubbles and similar things, and I've always found that highly entertaining! It's really light and a good size, and fits easily into my bag if I want to take it somewhere with me. It's good for car journeys, train journeys, and i sometimes have a little play before bed too!
I'd definately recommend it to others. I really can't fault it, and i definately think it's one of the best games consoles on the market, second only to the Wii (Nintendo certainly make the best!).
Summary: One of the best games consoles on the market
