Advantages: Compact, easy to use, and very, very, fun!

Disadvantages: Doesn't pick up your controls as good as it could!

My 100th review! Feel free to congratulate me, lol!

Nintendo seems to have taken over the competitive gaming market. The Wii is simply one of a kind and cannot even be compared to any other console. The DS and DS Lite on the other hand are the pick of the crop for handheld consoles.

We have already experienced the wonders of the Wii, but only jumped on the DS bandwagon three weeks ago.

To be honest, I have played friend's machines and yes, it was fun, but I had never really been too bothered about having one. I only really bought it for my son as he has been begging me for one for a while (mainly because most of his friends own them!). Since then though, I have grown to love it as much as (if not more than!) he does.

The DS has succeeded where others have failed because it is such a simple console and is extremely easy to use. This is probably why every 4 year old in my neighbourhood owns one!
When you open it you see that there are two parallel screens. The lower being a touch screen. There are six buttons on the right and one on the left. You do most of the work by simply touching the screen. You touch the screen using a stylus, which is like a miniature pen, minus the ink!

I have found most of the games easy to master; my son is also very confident with it and is even better than I am on some games.

There are a couple of flaws that I will mention. Sometimes the inbuilt microphone doesn't pick things up as well as it could. Now this may be due to my accent, although I don't think that my accent is particularly strong. Also, you have to write on the screen a lot in some games and I find it really difficult to get it to recognise the letter A. Not great when your name is Laura, as it takes up to five minutes just to enter your name! It is very frustrating as you write it perfectly clearly yet it types it up as U or N.

These are not huge issues though and overall I am very happy with the console and would recommend it for adults and children alike.

Summary: A fun little console that is perfect for everyone!

Yes, the screens are a decent size and games are usually set out clearly so it's quite easy to follow x

Is the screen easy to see on these? I like the sound of the games that you can get but not sure if it would be hard to see whats going on x
