Advantages: lots of different games, lightweight

Disadvantages: none

The Nintendo DS Lite is a great gaming device that has fantastic games for all ages.

What makes the DS considerably better than other portable gaming devices is that it has a wide range of games that cater to different ages and interests. You have your standard brain training games for adults, 'Nintendogs' and 'animal crossing' for animal lovers and then your typical rpg, action, adventure games for everyone else.

I have the crimson red edition which is fantastic to look at. It's very light and easy to hold and the stylus makes playing games very simple. When you open the device, the mic is situated in the middle and the buttons are all laid out really well. The buttons are also robust and durable.

The graphics are nothing special, but then Nintendo have never been known for producing great graphics. If you want realistic 3d graphics then you best get a PSP. There have been a few games which have come out lately (Moon) which have fairly impressive 3D graphics however they are still not on par with the PSP.

The speakers produce high quality sound. The sound is also rich when using headphones.

I've had a lot of fun with my DS, however I bought mine spontaneously and the novelty has worn of somewhat. The DS Lite would be a great gift for anyone one, casual gamers and pro-gamers alike.

Summary: a nice portable gaming device
