Nintendo DS Lite
Advantages: Portable and good fun.
Disadvantages: The games are not that cheap.
The DS Lite is a great little console to have for its mobility purposes. Its so easy to whip out and play if your on the bus, train... ect. Some of my favourite game titles for this console are Mario Kart, Brain Training, Professor Leyton Adventures, Various Pokemon titles & Dragon Quest 9.
The bottom half of the Nintendo DS Light is touch screen so you can either use a stylus or your finger to play. It opens up a whole unique way of gaming. Most games have some sort of interation with the touch screen as well as having to use the normal buttons.
One thing I find that doesn't work that great is the microphone. There is one game on Mario Kart where you have balloons around your car acting as lives essentially and you need to blow into the microphone to blow the balloons up but it never seems to work properly. On the Brain Training games however it seems to have about an 85% success rate on the voice recognition so pretty good overall.
You can also play some games like Mario Kart online against other players over the world. It doesn't take long to connect to your home wireless internet although sometimes the games do cut out.
The beauty of the Nintendo DS is that it has games that you have to proper knuckle down into like RPG's but then again it also has quick an easy games that you can play for just 5 minutes such as a quick go on Mario Kart or a quick bash on Brain Training!
Summary: Overall a pretty decent hand held console with a wide variety of games!
