Advantages: Fun, colourful, easy to use, love the ability to play Gameboy advanced games on it.
Disadvantages: Doesn't see the need in nintendo chat.
It Features a Double screen, one that can be used as a touch screen with a stylus.
The picture quality whilst playing games is very good but i think that can depend alot on the game you are playing, and the touch screen is very responsive and easy to use, and can be used with or without stylus.
The stylus is much like a normal pen/ pencil and you are supposed to use it as though using a pen.
There is also a microphone on the DS, which can be used in games, for example, in cooking Mama, and others. This is a good feature, and adds another dimension to games, and helps with playing games like brain training.
It also has the ability to connect to wireless internet in the home, and allow to play with DS users from across the globe. Most DS games give the ability to connect to the internet.
Another feature i quite like is that fact that you can play Game Boy Advanced games on it,
theres a little slot in the front which you open up and push the game into, the game appears on the top screen, and you play it just as a classic game .
I had a gameboy advanced, and never really enjoyed the games as the console had no backlight, using the game on the DS was brilliant and made me fall in love with them all over again.
DS chat is a good option, allowing users to talk to each other, although you do have to be quite close for it to work.
Another really good feature is that you can play with other users on a game, even if they do not have it themselves. For example, Mario Kart can be played with multiple DS users in an area, and the software can be "downloaded" to play for users without the game.
This makes gaming really social, and helps pass the time away on long coach journeys! Just make sure everyone has their DS with them.
The DS is portable, light, and is pleasing to the eye. The range of colours and accessories available to the DS means you will never get bored. It has a quite sleek and modern design, that will suit any taste.
I would say that this is the idea game for kids, as the games in the high street are full of bright colours and the DS touchscreen makes the games very interactive. The range of games that are out for the DS are really improving, where as before they were your basic party games, now, the classic nintendo characters are playing a vital role in the popularity of the DS.
Summary: a different console, fun for serious and casual gamers. Still has the ability to play classic games.
