Want to buy a games console ? Not sure which one to go for ?
Maybe I can enlighten you a little bit and try and make you see things from a slightly different perspective.

I have been around, walking amongst you game heads for many years. Well since the electronic video games revolution back in the late 1970’s anyway.
I have seen many platforms come and go. I have seen manufacturers lies on an all to frequent basis. Why should we believe them anymore ? We shouldn’t !! All except one that is, the mighty Nintendo !

Now I’m going to tell you why you should buy one instead of an X-box or Playstation.

The answers are as follows :

Nintendo launched the mighty GC (gamecube) on September 14th 2001. It has held onto and even enhanced it’s image as being the most fun you can have on a console.

Don’t get me wrong, I have had a bit of fun on the X-box and Playstation. But they fall down in one main area, they try to be like PC games, and sadly they will never live up to that mightiest of oppositions. What people tend to forget is that PC’s are constantly updateable and so new and improved software with glossier engines and billions of triangles per second imagery is constantly flooding the market. How do X-box and Playstation respond ? They dump there existing machines in favour of new improved machines. Come Christmas 2005 there will be the launch of X-box 2, Playstation 2 is due even sooner. This means that YOU, the sucker public will find that your new console is rapidly obsolete and be forced to go out and spend another couple of hundred Pounds/Euros on a new and improved machine that will also soon be obsolete.

This is where Nintendo win, everything is compatible, you can link your original Game Boy up to this baby and play all your favourite games on the big screen.
Nintendo have no plans to launch an improved platform in the near future. Instead they have turned to the developers at ’Rare’, who incidentally helped develop the cube in the first place to come up with more taxing and more fun styled games. Something that other platforms seem to have forgotten is that games should be fun !

Nintendo also win on price, at £79.99 for a typical console with pads and games it is at least £30 to £40 cheaper than it’s competitors. Okay, so it won’t play DVD’s but so what ? I recently bought a brand new DVD player for £20 at Richer Sounds, but that’ll be another review !

It is much harder for pirates to copy the software on Cube than on others, thanks to it’s uniquely sized disks, this is great news for cube owners believe it or not, let me explain. Piracy floods a market with non-profit making software. This reduces the buoyant market and forces software developers to discontinue developing software for that particular platform, hence poor games that no body wants to play anyway. Cube owners can rest assured that developers are looking more and more at this console and bringing out cutting edge games for it.

Now let me go back to why GC is so much fun compared to the others. GC have a vast array of fun party games for children between 3 and 90 years of age. They are simple to pick up and difficult to put down.

Playstation and X-box try and produce games to compete with PC, such as Halo and Medal of Honour. Any gamer will tell you that Keyboard and Mouse beats Joypad hands down when it comes to control of 1st and 3rd person games. A good PC will always whip a console on performance. Ask anyone who has enjoyed the Quake or Unreal series on the PC, they’ll tell you that all consoles are ‘Granddad’s brown pants’ by comparison.

And finally, Sega are now under Nintendo’s influence, so you’ll see all the best of Sega games now on Nintendo e.g. Sonic the Hedgehog. Atari are also rumoured to be moving towards the piracy free end of the market and I’m sure others will follow suit.

So, you know what to do ? Buy a Game Cube and put a smile on everybody’s face, especially your own :O)

Thanks
