Advantages: small and powerful, superb controller, best games

Disadvantages: lack of games, people shunning it for lack of dvd, no regular tv connection - only scart in box

When I first heard the name 'gamecube' in 99/00, I thought... hmm... when I saw the first pictures of it, I didnt think it would last 5 minutes on the market.

On may 3rd 2002 (the UK release date...? ) I suddenly found myself wanting one more than anything, so I parted with about £200 to purchase a strangely shaped and surprisingly heavy console... purple of course.

As soon as I rushed home, a small space was made and the cube was taken out of its box, I was amazed at how small it actually was!
so, I plugged it in, started playing on 'wave race blue storm', about 5 solid hours later, my hands still werent hurting from the extremely well designed controller.

I know it was called the 'kiddy console', but hey, I'm 17, I have kiddy games on it, I don't care, they're fun! The only thing I wasnt happy with was the fact that there was a distinct lack of violent games at the beginning of its life, but, there are now games to suit everyone, from resident evil to super mario sunshine.

The performance from the console has been nothing short of superb, astounding graphics and clean, crisp sound coupled with extremely fast mini-dvd-cd things makes this the best console out there.

ok ok, people will say 'what about XBOX's graphics? well.. the cube really isnt that far behind at all, metroid prime looks better than HALO any day, with a smoother frame rate to boot, plus it isnt crippled by the abomination that is the XBOX controller (including the controller S)

if anything can beat the cube, it has to be the still limited number of games available for it, but, as soon as nintendo pulls its finger out and releases ZELDA, the cube will rule supreme!

No dvd on it you say?

BUY A DVD PLAYER, this is for games!

I think Metroid Prime on the Gamecube destroys the competition - forget about XBox graphics!

Excell ent system, very underrated in my opinion. The main reason i got a Gamecube was so many exclusive titles, plus i've never gone Ninendo before - no regrets at all though.

To top it off, I should have my hands on one of those limited edition platinum ones soon...should be nice.

I love this console, we bought one to replace the Dreamcast when it died of overuse! The children use it the most though, although they are hogging the Xbox with the Sims at the moment!

X-box now Rare's been sold. But regarding the opinion Damn STRAIGHT! Nintendo rule 100% and you say there's a lack of games? Over 100 I believe and The Gamecube does indeed beat the old fashioned PS2 and the new fangled crud game machine X-box.

Although I'll grant the X-box Jet Set Radio and future RAre games.

LONG LIVE NINTENDO!
