The N64, a console that has loomed on the verge of existence ever since it was released. A great console that had a lot of potential but never realized it. Probably let down by the fact that major companies such as Square and Namco didn't produce games for it or not the right games. Square was possibly the biggest factor because they are so popular in the Japanese and other markets. Nintendo's strategy to go for a cartridge based console was a really crappy idea considering it couldn't hold much memory compared to the PS.

The only real advantages with cartridges was that there was no loading, some could save on them and they could not be pirated. There was a very long list of disadvantages such as the fact you could download the roms of the games on the net and play on it with an emulator. ON that matter if you are looking to play roms use the UltraNLE emulator. Roms can be found everywhere and you can buy CDs full of roms. There is no cool FMVs.

If you wanted to get a console your best bet is a Dreamcast which is now becoming cheaper and cheaper. It is a fantastic console with some awesome games and great graphics. Isn't it weird how the N64 has outlived the Dreamcast so I say support the N64 until the end. If you're looking for something like a handheld then I would recommend waiting for the Game Boy Advance.

If you still want to get a N64 then make sure it doesn't cost anything above 70-60 because that would just be a rip off. With that in mind the N64 does have a lot of good games such as the excellent Perfect Dark; the best Mario ever; mutiplayer action Smash Brother or even the highly recommended Goldeneye.

The N64 is a fantastic console and should be respected. Please hold on until the Gamecube comes out bcause the PS2 is not quality. NO disrespect to Sony fans. Read more about N64 games in my reviews. Thanks.
