Advantages: Use of cartridges, Great graphics, ease of connection and automatic saving

Disadvantages: None

I bought an N64 a couple of years ago and so far so good. It is in perfect condition, even though I play games on it for long hours every day. For me this is the best system there is because of the following reasons:

USE OF CARTRIDGES
-----------------
This is one aspect of this console that makes it tops. Unlike many other consoles which use cd’s( need cleaning and could easily get scratched) the N64 uses cartridges. There are so many advantages that come with using cartridges. For instance, there is a very small chance of them getting damaged and they cannot get scratched, there is no loading that occurs during any game which would disturb you, and finally, you can keep the cartridges almost anywhere without expecting any problems with the games. The cartridges also do not require cleaning, and although sometimes they do not work, a quick puff of air into the cartridge gets it working.

EASE OF CONNECTION
------------------
Unlike consoles like the playstation, this is so easy to connect. There are only three wires that go at the back of the Television and one in the power socket both starting from the Nintendo. There are no problems with voltages and you do not need an adaptor or anything of that sort. It can also be plugged in on any ordinary television without much difficulty at all.

RELIABILTY
----------
As I said earlier in my op, I have had this console for quite a few years almost four and so far not even one single problem. This is one incredible fact that astonishes me considering that I play it almost six hours a day. I had even taken my Nintendo 64 to West Africa once and found no problems connecting or playing it even though there were so many light fluctuations. On my trip, my son had borrowed his friend’s playstatyion in trade for our N64. It took us an hour to connect the playstation and then after playing a couple games smoke started coming out of the playstation. We later relea
sed that the playstation had blown up and we had to buy the guy a new playstation. After that experience I have not let my 64 slip out of my grasp and was really happy that I had bought a Nintendo 64 and not any other console.

AUTOMATIC SAVING
----------------
Almost all the games on this console can be saved in the memory of the it. There are only a few of the really humongous games that need memory packs which are also available at good prices. This is also a great plus as most consoles; like playstation; require a memory card on almost 99% of the games before they can be saved. This is very annoying as you might get really far in a game and then release that you have to switch it off and all your energy has been wasted as you cannot save.

GRAPHICS
--------
Today, very few consoles beat the garphics of Nintendo 64. Almost all games on the console have really great graphics and the best games that have ben produced up to date are mostly Nintendo's games. Even the best producers for graphics like rae are for the 64 which just shows how good the graphics are on this machine.

CONCLUSION
----------
After all my wonderful experiences with this console, I am proud to say that there is no console on this planet that betters it. It has got all advantages that go with it and gets a 101% from me.

Sorry for only giving this op a useful, but I think it could be improved by adding more about the best N64 games for example. Also mention that two of the best games ever made on any console, Zelda - Ocarina of Time and Zelda - Majora's Mask, may be of some use.

Some info on the controllers may be quite helpful as well. Personally, when I first saw them, I thought they looked ridiculous, but now, after actually using them, they feel so much better than Playstation controllers.

I love my 64 too.
Who needs full motion video if there's no playability.
I do own a PS1 & a DC, so I am able to compare.

Lovely op.
