Advantages: Price, Reliabilty, Decent graphics

Disadvantages: Age, Stats comparison to Nxt generation consoles, Stopping of game production

Whilst the Nintendo 64 is now a bit out dated with teh release of the next generation gaming consoles, such as PS2, Xbox and GameCube it is still a reliable little gaming box, especially if you don't really feel like forking out the 200 quid you would need for one.

You can pick one up cheaply from around £30, now only at second hand but you may find a few new ones around.

There is a huge number of titles available still, with some of the best console games ever made still on the charts such as 007 Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Although they have officially stopped manufacturing the games they are still available from shops all around the country and on internet auction sites people are allways selling off their games for cheap.

Although not the best thing to boast about to your friends, the N64 provides a very reliable gaming experience and although the stats don't quite reach that of the next generation consoles they are still pretty good and almost never go wrong.

So if your looking to buy a piece of reliable but cheap kit with thousands upon thousands of great titles from all the best manufacturers then this is what your after.

Thank heavens for ebay, the doorway to retro-gaming heaven. The N64 was always a good machine that mainly had Nintendo's slack attitude towards PAL conversions and proper marketing, to blame for its under-performance.

But it remains a good machine and, more importantly, is the home of some of the best videogames ever created. Super Mario 64, Zelda, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, all of them classics. Now is as good a time to pick them up as ever, especially at their low price : )

These 'in general' reviews are difficult aren't they! Some good advice though - it may not be cool to have one, but the games are still excellent and if they're going to be dirt cheap with people trying to off-load them quickly as well then perhaps we should thank Nintendo!
