Hugely underrated (Nintendo N64)
Member Name: ben_83
Advantages: Great games, great controller, cheap Disadvantages: Not many new games now and the hardware is slightly outdated
The PlayStation may be the casual gamers' choice but the N64 is definately the purist's choice. If you are prepared to put up with long waits for killer games (just look at how long we had to wait for 'Perfect Dark') and don't mind paying a little bit more for your games, the N64 is definately for you. For a start, the two best developers in the world make games exclusively for Nintendo consoles - Nintendo themselves and Rare. Those two alone have brought classics such as 'Super Mario 64', 'Wave Race 64', 'Mario Kart 64', 'GoldenEye 007', 'Donkey Kong 64' and 'Perfect Dark' amongst others exclusively to the N64. The N64 also sports the best controller so far, blitzing the PlayStation's Dual Shock and even the Dreamcast's controller. Another advantage is that most N64 games come with on-cartridge saves so you don't have to mess about with unreliable memory cards (although there is the option). Also, cartridges mean that there is no load time and no noisy CD drives. However, the most important advantage is that they are dirt cheap now. You can pick up an N64 for about £65 now so there should be no excuse. Summary: |
