'Wii'... What a name eh? Personally, I thought this was a ridiculous name when I first heard the official name, but I now think its quite unique and cool. So, let's start with a joke.

One day, a boyfriend received a call from his girlfriend asking 'can you come round mine tonight?' The boy replied 'Sorry, I promised my sister that I'd play with her and her wii!' *drum roll*

Anyway, yeah, there are a lot of jokes made about the wii but I think it is a great name. It looks really cool. It's white and squarish with a unique front that has a really cool neon light that lights up when it's on. It also pulses on and off when you have new messages to view. This neon light surrounds the opening to the console, where discs are inserted. You also have the other functional buttons on the front such as the on/off button. It is also unique; as it comes with its very own stand to make sure that it looks as cool as possible in your house. The wii fits into the stand very well and makes it look sleek as anything!

Your wii will include:

Wii remote
Nunchuk
Console
Console stand
Leads
Wii Sports

You can buy the Wii bundled with one of a few games, but I suggest the Wii sports bundle pack as it is really fun and gets you up and exercising! The remote is the main controller for the console. It literally looks like a remote, and has a good speaker on it too with lights to show what player you are and all the buttons. There is also a trigger underneath. You can even buy attachments to put onto the remote to make it more like a gun for shooting games!

The Nunchuk is a weird name, but it is the name for the attachment to the remote, which is used in most games. It is simply an analogue stick on a piece of plastic with a trigger underneath. It connects to the remote with a strong single lead that slots into the back of the remote. Both controllers can record movement by use of gravity. This function is extremely unique and adds a new dimension to gaming! Most of the games will require you to perform certain movements with the remote to perform actions in the games!

In Wii Sports, which contains golf, boxing, tennis and more sports, you must use the remote just like a club, boxing glove or tennis racket! Whether you are swinging, jabbing or scooping up to hit the tennis ball; it adds great fun and a new dimension to gaming! This brings a revolution to gaming with a whole new concept.

I feel that Nintendo makes the most unique consoles, and this one just has to be loved by everyone. The fact that you can actually exercise whilst playing is great and a good idea! You aren't going to lose an enormous amount of weight, especially in games where it requires you to just jerk the remote to perform an action. However, the fact that it is a form of exercise whilst playing certain games is great!

There are tonnes of good games out on the Wii, just like every Nintendo console. From the new Zelda to Mario Party 8, there are plenty of games to keep you playing! They come at good prices too! For under £30 on amazon.co.uk, you can buy most wii games that have only been out for a month or so! Some of the brand new ones are in the late £30s but this is still cheap compared to Xbox 360 games and most of all PS3 games. For new games, the RRP is £39.99 unless they aren't of great quality, so at under £30 on amazon.co.uk, this isn't bad at all! I have seen many of the games in shops offline for sale at £29.99, so it's still cheap! The console itself can be bought bundled with another game for just £179.99! Compared to almost £300 for the Xbox 360, and almost £500 or more than that for the PS3, it is a bargain!

Personally, I find my wii very fun to play with great games. The thing that it lacks is graphics. Playstation 2 graphics seem better from some PS2 games, which is pretty embarrassing. However, graphics aren't a huge problem for many, and you can buy RGB cables and the best kit to get your wii graphics to as high a standard as possible. When you are sitting a distance away from your TV, the graphics look pretty good anyway. With the added bonus of the News channel, Weather channel, Wii Shop channel, Mii channel and Photo channel, there is endless fun! These channels can be accessed from the start up screen. Half of them are self explanatory, but the Mii channel lets you create your own 'me', which is used in some games such as Wii sports, where you can run around playing tennis with a mini version of yourself! You can customize everything from eye colour to clothes to height and the face can be customized in great detail.

Overall, I feel the Wii is a great console, and I would highly recommend it to children but adults who are looking for a bit of fun too! It's great at first, and really fun to get into. Some games such as Zelda took me a while to get used to the controls, but after a while it doesn't only feel natural, but feels great to move the controllers in certain ways to perform certain actions - IT JUST WORKS... WELL! It is very cheap for what it is, and try not to break your remote or Nunchuk, as together, they are just as expensive as a game, if not more! A great console with a large variety of games and a new dimension to gaming bringing much fun!

Thanks for reading,

Summary: A great console that adds a new dimension to gaming, bringing much fun along the way!

I was going to get a wii or xbox 360 last year
I went with the 360 because I thought graphics would be better.
But now i plan on getting the wii - for wii sports and wii fit and all that
So the graphics wouldnt be good on it for say tomb raider or something ?
Or are graphics only good on wii sports games etc
