Advantages: Fun for children

Disadvantages: Dangerous!

I want to write a quick review here just to warn people about the Nintendo Wii. It's a very popular games console, and can be fun for the whole family. However I had a very awful experience with it which I would hate anyone else to have to suffer from.

The console is very different to others on the market. The standard controller, common to most games consoles, is replaced by the sleek remote which responds to your movements. For example, playing tennis on most games consoles involves lazing around in a chair, solely exercising your thumbs on the buttons. Playing tennis on the wii would involve a Federer style performance in your own living room. With the remote as your racket you can play just as you would outside on a court.

It sounds great, doesn't it? What could possibly be bad about the idea? A few people all flinging their arms about in close proximity indoors, having a great time. Well, would you allow your children to put up a net in your living room to have a game of tennis. Probably not! Unfortunately I did and the result was a great hole in my 40inch television. The strap on the remote wasn't great and loosened on my aunty's arm flying off at force across the room, in the direction of the TV. A happy christmas that was, I can assure you!

Of course, this won't be enough to put off your children and I do still have this console but in the empty, big spare room, hooked up to a portable TV. I wish I'd done this in the first place so please, if you buy one, be careful! I wouldn't want anyone else to have a nasty experience!

Summary: Not the most sensible invention!
