Advantages: Easy to use, fun games, more physical involvement for the player

Disadvantages: No DVD player, controlelr batteries need replaced often.

The Nintendo Wii revolutionised games consoles when it was introduced with its amazing movement sensitive controls. This really allows the gamer to get physically involved with the game they are playing. The wireless controllers (remote and nunchuk) are picked up by the remote bar which is placed in front of the TV and lets the player control the direction/movement/actions of games and characters. The Wii Sports game that is included with the console demonstrates this perfectly allowing the player to take part in a variety of different sports using their own actions and the controllers.
Since the Wii was introduced their have been many games brought out for it covering such genres as racing, platform adventure and fighting and Nintendo have brought back many old classics like Mario and Sonic which will be loved by nostalgic fans.
The Wii can be played by people of almost any age as the controls are so instinctive it is easy for young children and also older people who may never have played a games console before.
The Wii features a built-in web browser which can be connected either by a cable or wirelessly if you have a wi-fi system in your house. As many games have online options this allows you to play your friends from the comfort of your own home. There is also the option (for a small cost) to download a web browsing application that lets you go online through the Wii as you would with a PC or laptop.
The only downside I came across with the Wii is that I had to replace the batteries in the remote on a fairly regular basis. I got around this by buying rechargeable batteries and a charging station online for about £10. Also the Wii does not feature any sort of DVD player which has become standard in most other consoles.
All in all the Nintendo Wii is brilliant value for money at around £180 basic price and offers great fun for all the family.

Summary: Revolutionary games console at a value for money price
