Advantages: big memeory, sleek design
Disadvantages: remote and sensor bar can be a littleover sensitive
When this console first came out i was more than a little dubious about it. To me it looked cheaply made and flimsy, and was also quite expensive, in my opinion. However after buying one for my boyfirend i changed my mind.
The wii is probably the most amazing games console i have ever come across. The console is made by nintendo, and as always they have excelled themselves, and with wifi ability you can play your games with people from all over the world, and even surf the internet on it!!. It is made to be very durable, and has a sleek attractive design. It is also quite small, smaler tan i expected it to be, which i liked because it can be tucked away.
I am not normally a gamer, but the wii soon got me hooked, the remote actions make the games more interactive than i ever imagined they would be. The graphics are amazing, of an extremely high quality, and very clear, unlike some other consoles which can still appear pixelated. The memory on the wii is huge, and you can even add more memory to it, by using gamecube memory cartridges. There is also a slot in which you can plug in your gamecube controller, and play your gamecube games!!! Another feature which i think makes the Wii such an innovative and original product.
The remotes and wireless, and your movements with the remote are detected by a sensorbar that can be positioned either above or below the tv, depending on where works best for you. The only disadvantage with this is that the wii remotes can be a little over sensitive, the sensitvity can be altered, but i would have liked it if the sensitivity could be adjusted more. Although with practice i have learned to control the remotes to overcome the sensitivity issue.
The bundles that you can get are actually pretty good value for money!!!
I brought a bundle for £200 and in that i got the wii plus 1 wii remote, with wii sports and another game. which i thought was pretty good, since buying the console and the game separately would have cost me £235, so a saving of £35 isn't bad.
Although i personally think that some of the games can be a little expensive, the range of games available is very good. There are games to suit almost any taste. From great fun group games like wii sport, wii play, mario and sonic at the olympics and warioware, to individual player games such as harry potter, super paper mario and super mario galaxy!
Accessories for this console are however very expensive, additional wii remotes usually retail at around £35 each, which is very pricy, considering if you buy wii play(a game) you get a remote free with it and it still costs the same price. Additional knunchucks are also expensive as well, although most games can be played without this. This is probably the main drawback of the wii, and even though it has now been out for a while, prices haven't really dropped at all.
Overall i think that the wii is a fantastic console, with amazing entertainment value and pretty good value for money, if you can buy itin a bundle, the only drawback is the price of games and accessories for the wii. I would defintely recommend one though, simply for the fun factor!!!!!
Thanks for reading xx
