Advantages: Fun for the whole family.
Disadvantages: Some of the accessories can be a little pricey.
My gorgeous Fiancé has brought me a Wii with Wii fit package for my 21st birthday (which isn't for almost another four weeks) but as I am so lucky and can plead with the best of them he's been letting me play on it early!
The Wii is a console designed by Nintendo that normally retails for around £179.99 with one remote, one nunchuck & the Wii sports game. You will also receive a remote control sensor bar.
The Wii is very simple to set up. It has one power lead for which you will need a plug socket of course & one scart lead for which you will need a television to plug it in to. All very simple to set up and I let my fiancé do this for me. You will then need to place the sensor bar on top of the television or somewhere that is just a little higher than your arm when held up a little.
As we purchased a pre-owned console with the Wii Fit Balance Board (brand new) and the Wii Fit game we did not receive the Wii Sports console as this had not been traded in with the game, however, we got a discount of £10 for this inconvenience (weren't really bothered though!) which meant that we received the console with the Wiimote, Nun chuck, Wireless Sensor Bar & a clear skin for the Wiimote + the Wii Fit Balance Board & Wii Fit Game for £179.99 so we were very happy indeed (this deal was from our local Gamestation but unfortunately for other people we actually got the last one from in the window!).
Once you have set up the console you are ready to use it! As you might have guessed now the Wii detects motion to help you play most of the games. You simply use the remote and the nun chuck to play the games, it's actually much easier than it sounds and you can use the remote for a whole variety of things such as driving, walking, bowling, batting, playing tennis etc, the list is endless really!
You can hook up your wireless internet also which means that you can play games with people around the world and visit your friends Wii area and see the Wii Mee character/s that they have created. This is a very fun feature and I can't wait until my other half gets wireless internet at home specifically for this reason (well, and for him to play Xbox Live!).
The Wii is fun for the whole family as there is such a vast amount of games and accessories that you can now purchase which means that there should be something for everybody.
The RRP of a Wii with 1 remote, 1 nun chuck, 1 sensor bar, two lead required & the Wii sports game is £179.99 but I would definitely advising shopping around as we saved around £70 on our deal just because the Wii was pre owned!
I am rating the Wii 5/5 as I don't think you can beat it in terms of how you get to interact with your game.
Summary: Highly recommend, fun for the whole family on this interactive console.
