Advantages: Good for the young
Disadvantages: game play is very limited
As a big gaming fan i feel i need to write this review on my thoughts on the Wii console. Its not that its a bad console its just that it has its limits especially compared to the Xboc360 or the PS3.
I bought a Wii about a year ago and i found that i got bored with it very quickly. It was great fun at first but the games are very limited in their game play.
Its quirky and fun but i would suggest its more for when you have people round and can be great entertainment or maybe its just me getting to old.
I had the console downstairs to begin with and when i bought an Xbox360 i moved it to my daughters room. I bought her some extra games at Christmas time and to this date i think she has only played it 3 times. She is more interested in her Nintendo DS.
One thing to watch out for is types of games, alot of the games that get changed into multi format work well on the other consoles but dont translate over to the Wii. I always found that the games that were good were the ones designed specificaly for the Wii. The best game i liked on it was Red Steel and other than that the game play fizzeled out with other games quickly.
To that end i traded it all in today and bought my daughter the new DSI which she should get more use out of.
I paid about £280 which included 3 games and a couple of other bits and pieces.
Its not a really bad console its just limited and maybe its for the younger generation.
Summary: Its for social gatherings and the young

- 01/06/09 It is hard to find top titles for the Wii in an adult context. I use it as a second console after the 360 and get games for my GF to play. It really is something that a lot of people buy and store in the cupboard. |
