Advantages: Great family activity levels, good active game play

Disadvantages: Not so great on some games

I bought myself a Nintendo Wii about a year ago after being absolutely Wowed by the advertising and Media hype that it got pre release. I must admit that I was shocked by the price at first as it did seem a little expensive. (We got a package deal for around £200 at the time). We have used it a great deal though so I feel that the price is deserved.

The console itself is compact and quite quiet when running compared to some of the other gaming consoles that wehave. The remotes are the best part by far. They are easy to use, very good sized for holding and come with wrist straps so you don't end up throwing the remote through the TV when jumping around!!!!

We have several games for the Wii covering a spectrum of genres and gameplay. I find for active games such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports, it is fantastic as the energetic game play comes into it's own. A great motivator for encouraging children to play whilst excercising at the same time, also for adults!! It is also great for any game where shooting or fighting is involved as you can really get stuck in!

I do find that gameplay for platform games is a bit limited on the Wii though as the controllers are not as functional for this purpose as on other consoles, so I tend to get these sort of games on other platforms now.

The Wii also provides a great entertainment factor at parties and we have had many a drunken evening bowling with friends!

An all round game playing console. Better suited for younger children or family activities.
