Advantages: Motion controller, some good games, Wifi, Channels, compatible with Gamecube, great design

Disadvantages: No DVD player, poor graphics, many horrible minigame collections.

The Wii is Nintendos fifth generation of home consoles.

The Wii itself is a very nice looking piece of technology, the console itself is a reflective white colour and is very clean and cool looking. The console has lots clever door on it to hide away all the ports so when not in use you can maintain the clean look. The DVD drive on the Wii even has a blue light which will glow if you receive a message or when you start your games. This machine is really classy like the DS lite a far more attractive design than previous efforts such as the Gamecube.

In the box with the Wii you receive, the console, a Wii Remote, a Nunchuck Controller, a Sensor Bar, a plastic stand for the sensor bar, a two piece vertical stand for the Wii, composite video cables, power leads and a copy of Wii Sports. The Wii console includes absolutely everything you need to get started and have some fun!

The Wii has many new features, first of all it has built in Wifi which allows you to connect to WiiConnect 24 this service allows you to access the Wii channels which include News, Weather, Wii Shop channel and online services. The console also has built in memory so you don't need to go and purchase memory cards though you can expand the consoles memory and view your photos on your TV with the SD card slot, the Wii also has a new interactive motion controller system which immerses you more in games.

The Wii also has Gamecube controller ports and memory card slots so you can use your existing accessories with it and it is fully backwards compatible with all the titles in the Gamecube library.

There are many good games available for the Wii inlcluding Super Smash Brothers Brawl, the next online enabled instalment of the fighting game, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Link goes on another quest, Metroid Prime 3 Samus returns for more puzzles and shooting fun, Mario Kart Wii the next exciting instalment to the racing series and many more.

The Wii does have a few downsides, one is you will often find many third party titles which happen to be rubbish minigames not even worth your time! Even though it does have a DVD drive it won't play DVDs and the Wii has noticeably worse graphics than both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Still there are many new games that you will have fun playing on the Nintendo Wii.

Summary: A good video game console.
