The nintendo wii is a more family friendly console than the Xbox or the Playstation 3 and for most games involves some form of energetic movement.

The console itself comes with the stand, power pack, sensor bar, instructions and one remote control. Depending on what package you get this may also include the nunchuck or more controllers, wii motion plus etc.

The console is very easy to set up more of a plug and play, even with the wi-fi connection, with the playstation we needed to input the network name and password with the wii we just turned it on and it connected straight away with no need to find the password. Very much appreicated at the time!

You are able to create different "mii's" for each person and attach these to the controllers with the idea being that you can then take your controller to someone elses house and play as yourself. Not used this feature so not sure 100% if this works or not.

Finding the right position for the sensor bar is a must and it might be case of trial and error to find out if it should be above or below the TV or to the left, right or central. Once you have this in place I would also recommend altering the speed of the controller, we have found that having it quicker or slower does make a difference with some of the games.

The wii also has loads of different accessories wheels, guns, the wii fit balance board to name a few which are able to engage the whole family and is also good fun for adult party games.

Overall the console is still a little bit higher priced for what you get than the Xbox or PS3 but it is aimed at a different market to these consoles but if you are looking for something the whole family can play with then this is the console for you.

Summary: Great console for the family but doesn't have the capabilities of the Xbox or PS3
