When this console first came out, I, like probably many others really wanted one. However I didn't purchase one till a few years after its launch. I loved it instantly. This whole new concept of the motion detection was fantastic and innovative.

Many a fun nights were had playing games such as tennis, canoeing, golf etc on the Wii Sports Resort game that came with the console as part of the package I purchased. This console is great for family fun or a night in with mates. I think a lot of fun can be had with this console whether it's just a 1 player game or multiple players.

One of the disadvantages of this console that I can think of is that the remotes for the Wii tend to use batteries up quickly. It's was costing a fair bit for them so finally decided to get rechargeable ones. However this wasn't always great for the kids in the family when they came to visit and wanted to play it, so had to revert back to ordinary batteries at times.

Now that I've had it for quite some time, it doesn't get used quite as much these days. I guess like a lot of consoles before it, it was a novelty to begin with, with its new exciting state of the art technology in the gaming world. Technology moves at a rapid pace and with Sony launching Kinect, I suppose the Nintendo Wii has now taken a back seat. Although having said that I have considered purchasing a Wii fit board as this looks good fun, whilst having the added benefit of it being exercise.

Overall I really like the console and don't for a minute regret purchasing it and I would definitely recommend it.
