Advantages: games for the whole family
Disadvantages: Not HD
I was bought a Nintendo Wii as a gift about 3/4 years ago. When they first came out I wasn't keen on the concept of the Nintendo Wii, being used to a PS2 I was unsure about the whole interactive movement concept, thinking gaming was about slouching on your sofa and zoning into the game on the screen. But, I got used to the whole idea of being in the game, rather than controlling the game. The fact that it gets you moving and exercising is a brilliant idea as a lot of the gamers these days are young kids, and they need as much exercise as they can get.
There is a wide range of games, for young and old. I am a 26 year old female and I think I have a collection of over 50 games. There is something for everyone, and it gets people together. I have had many Wii parties with friends and family, rather than going out to a bar or club and spending ridiculous amounts of money, bring a bottle and have fun playing the Wii!
I have never found that there are any technical issues with the Wii; it would be a bonus if it was HD as I also have a PlayStation and the picture quality difference is huge. Although the remotes use batteries, they do tend to last for quite a while. If I use it for 10 hours a week, I have found they can last for 3-4 weeks on one set of batteries.
All in all, the Nintendo Wii was the breakthrough of gaming. All of the other platforms have followed suit, with the Xbox Kinect and the PlayStation Move, but for me it's the Nintendo Wii all the way, by far the cheapest, and in my opinion, the best.
Summary: Best games console in a long while.
