Advantages: It was sooo much better than the master system, SONIC RULES!!!!!, Toejam and Earl are just the grooviest aliens ever!

Disadvantages: I have no idea what the '16 bit' thing means, It is really hard to track down games for it

Wow.... the Sega Megadrive.... How amazing was this machine??? When it came out it was the crem de la creme of all game consoles. I mean, you had the difficult choice to make of whether to go for Mario and Luigi, the Italian plumbers on a Nintendo console, or the wonder that was Sonic the Hedgehog on a Sega console. Where is the choice in that? The plumbers didn't stand a chance against the hyperactive blue hedgehog!! Well, not in my mind anyway!

I don't know how old I was when this wonder of the world came out but I saved and saved until, with a bit of help from my parents, (well, lets face it, which small child apart from the Beckham sprogs has that amount of money??) I could afford £199.99 for the Sega Megadrive with 2 free games - Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Mega Games with Football Italia 90 (oh... that means I was about 7 when I got it), Columns and Super Hang On.

Afetr conquering (or giving up!) these games, I longed for more. More fun, more excitement and more challenges. Then I found it..... Toejam and Earl. The two aliens needing my help to get their spaceship back together from when they crah landed. This was the coolest game in the history of the world!! In which other game can you sneak up on Santa Clause and steal all the presents? None!! :) It was just sooo cool! The funniest bit of this game is when the aliens fall off the bottom planet and end up in the bonus level in a hot tub with hula girls!!! A bit bizarre I realise but very funny!

This 16 bit machine was just a revelation (and before you ask - no I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what the 16 bit part means!) and it is so sad that no-one under the age of about 10 has a clue what this thing is. They think that the dreamcast, the follower of the megadrive, is old and outdated.... *sigh*

Ah well! Just thought I's tell you that I am proud to be a Megadrive owner!!!!!!
