Advantages: Good graphics and playable games
Disadvantages: None
I used to own a SNES (or Super Nintendo Entertainment System) and fell that I have to write an opinion on it. At its time of release it was the best console around and was far better the the Sega Mega Drive. It was revolutionary and the first great plug-in console. It was undoubtedly ahead of its time and the games where surprisingly complex, with good graphic, great gameplay and brilliatly playable games. There were a multitude of great legendary games released by Nintendo including Super Mario, Mario Allstars, Street Fighter 2, Super Mario Kart, Zelda, The Secret Of Manna and countless others. Nintendo also created new technology for the SNES that has been developed and used in consoles today. The multiplayer plug-in that allow four players to play similtaneously was first developed for and used in the SNES.There was also the Super Scope which was the first light gun used for a console. New types of games were also introduced for the SNES. The cartoon racing and battle game Super Mario Kart was created and has spawned many games such as Mario Kart 64, Beetle Racing, Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing. The fight game was first introduced to the SNES with the legendary Street Fighter 2 game. If there were a hall of fame for consoles the SNES should be in it as it was the first powerful and playable console that made way for the new generation such as the Playstation, N64 and Dreamcast

- 05/10/01 I rated your opinion SU. This was largely influenced by the fact that some of your statements are either obscure or misleading.
Street Fighter wasn't published by Nintendo. The PC Engine had a multitap before the Snes. The Nes had a light gun (before the Snes' of course). The Spectrum had beat 'em ups long before the Snes. (I'm pretty sure even a version of Street Fighter on the Spectrum came out before one was on the Snes.
I'd agree however that the Snes should be in any hall of fame. |
