Introduction
==========

He goes on and on and on and on. Is this torture never going to end? He has to sleep at some point but he is just going to start again when he wakes up. I was hoping that he would just forget about this but I don't think he is. Right the pros to getting one, he will shut up, it will keep him quiet (at least for a while), the cons to not getting one, he will never stop, he will continue this forever more.

All right we'll got one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know getting a PS2 is not a life changing decision but by agreeing to purchase one, I have now got myself an easier life just for a while anyway.

The Purchase
==========

I told him that he could find one and buy it. So he purchased it from Game station. It cost £89.99 for the console, one controller, one memory card and four games from there 4 for £20 section.

I did not choose the games but here are the ones he chose.

Heroes of Might and Magic
Flipnic
America's 10 Most Wanted
Leisure Suit Larry

Now the console did not come in the PS2 box but a brown cardboard one, this is because the console is second-hand. However Game station have given a one-year warranty on the console.

Set Up
======

The console itself is quite small and lightweight

To set up the PS2 was very easy as there was very few wires, the console, a controller, power lead and an aerial lead. This may not to be the correct names but this may be more helpful for people who do not have technical knowledge like myself.

With there being little to plug in, it was quite simple and did not take long to set it up about 5 minutes maybe even less than that but I know I did not spend hours fiddling with it.

The other good bonus about this console is there is very few buttons to press. There is an on/off switch, one that opens the drive drawer and a reset button.

How to Use
=========

Once the set up is done, the next thing any game player is going to want to do is put a game in and start playing. Make sure you have the console turned on, press the button to open the drive drawer, put the disk in and press the button again. Now I am not sure on this one but I am sure someone will correct me in the comments! Sometimes I have to press the reset button to get the console to read the disk but then other times I do not.

It is then a case of waiting for the game to load up, which in my experience does not take long at all.

Other Features
============

If you do not have modern equipment such as a CD Player or DVD player then you can also use the Playstation 2 for you music and film requirements. This is not a feature I have used but might come in useful for someone.


Overview
========

I am not a big fan of game consoles as I lose interest in them very quickly, however he likes to play with them for hours so at least it will keep him quiet. The games are now quite reasonably priced as many shops now offer 3 for £20.

With the Playstation 3 on its way, I will imagine that this console will be obsolete just like the traditional Playstation has. The other good point about the Playstation 3 being released soon is that the price of the PS2 games will come down even further.

The playstation 2 has been in the house for 3 months and I have probably played on it 5 times, I have now lost interest. If it had not been for someone pestering me about it I probably would never have bought one and it has still not changed my gaming habits.

If you are new to gaming consoles this one is a great start as it is very simple to set up and use, however the more serious gamers are probably counting the days until the Playstation 3 arrives.
